Nestled in the heart of Morocco’s enchanting Ourika Valley, this retreat invites you into a transformative journey where the art of storytelling and the wisdom of dreams awaken the soul.

The Power of Stories and Gatherings

From time immemorial, humans have gathered around fires, beneath stars, or under open skies to share tales. Stories are the language of the soul, carrying timeless truths and uniting communities in the pursuit of meaning. This retreat celebrates the art of spiritual storytelling as both a creative and healing force. Together, we will explore how stories can bridge the seen and unseen, connect the inner and outer worlds, and guide us through the landscapes of personal transformation.

Through the hero’s journey, you’ll step into the timeless myth of your own life, embracing the archetypes that shape our paths. As we share and listen, a sacred circle forms—a space where wisdom unfolds, hearts open, and healing takes root.

AS ABOVE SO BELOW

Every culture has its storytellers. Today, because of the global reach of cinema and television, storytelling has to a great extent become a degraded art, with the search of profit rather than beauty, meaning and inspiration often being the motivating force. But increasingly people turning away from standardised, dumbed-down and violent and formulaic productions of Hollywood and the mass-media television factories, to discover again the magic of true storytelling. The Bards and Storyteller combined the roles of healer and philosopher, artist, shaman in a way that our modern mind, with its passion for specialism and separation can hardly grasp. Stories can be used to convey spiritual teachings that have the power to heal and enlighten, and to initiate profound transformations in our lives. And they can do this precisely because they defy our minds attempts at separation and analysis - they touch our hearts and souls and speak to us directly about the meaning of our lives, and about the ways in which we can grow and change.

CORE ELEMENTS OF SPIRITUAL STORYTELLING

Connection to the Sacred:

  • Spiritual storytelling often weaves themes of the divine, the sacred, or the transcendent into the narrative.

  • It can involve myths, parables, allegories, or personal experiences that reflect spiritual principles or universal truths.

 Purpose and Intention:

  • The goal is to guide, heal, inspire, or elevate the listener.

  • It often provides insight into life's mysteries, helps resolve inner conflicts, or supports personal growth.

Themes:

  • Common themes include unity, love, compassion, self-discovery, enlightenment, transformation, and the interconnectedness of all life.

  • Stories may also address the hero’s journey, the struggle between light and shadow, or the pursuit of higher purpose.

Symbolism and Archetypes:

    • Spiritual storytelling frequently uses symbols and archetypes (e.g., the wise elder, the seeker, the divine mother, the hero) to resonate deeply with the listener’s subconscious.

    • Metaphors and imagery are often employed to represent spiritual truths that are difficult to articulate directly.

Cultural Roots:

    • Many spiritual traditions use storytelling to pass down teachings, rituals, and values. For example:

      • Indigenous oral traditions often share wisdom about nature and the spirit world.

      • Religious texts, like parables in the Bible or Jataka tales in Buddhism, teach moral and spiritual lessons.

      • Mythologies like those of ancient Greece, Egypt, or India embody universal truths through their narratives.
